CF Discounts was created in 2004 by a retired member of Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadian). After his retirement and during his retraining, he wanted to continue "doing his part" for the Canadian Forces and had the idea of gathering in one place all of the businesses from across Canada that wanted to show their support of our soldiers and veterans by offering discounts or special promotions to them and their families.

In December 2005, the site went "live" and has since gathered over 1000 businesses from across Canada.
